Welcome to my
Gallery of Tatting!

My name is Ellen Colenso and I have created this website to display all of my tatted designs.  Many of my designs are currently available for sale.  Still many more have already been sold, but if you really want something duplicated, please contact me and I will be happy to process an order of any quantity for you in a timely manner.  At right, I am shown wearing my "Latin Cross Neck-Lace."

What is TATTING? Tatting is the ancient art of making hand-knotted lace. A special tool called a shuttle is usually used to form simple knots into lacy patterns. Tatting is traditionally used to make heirloom doilies and edgings. This lost art is believed to have developed from the net-making techniques of prehistoric fisherman. The use of the shuttle is indicated in archaeological records.
